It'll be short and sweet I promise.
... maybe not so sweet.
Our (the characters we role-play) Side = Side A The Enemy's Side = Side B
(These two countries are neighbouring. There is hardly any naval warfare.
- Started when Side A claimed a disputed piece of land as theirs. Side B said it does not belong to them and tensions rose.
- Extremists on Side B assassinated a top figure in Side A's government.
- Outraged, Side A declared war, and it began.
- The battles started with the hi-tech equipment; there wasn't much humans-killing-humans. It was at this point the government took a lot of interest in Helix/Ind, and sponsored them. They had already been making Oculi, but now they were making more.
- One year later: Little progress was made. The fights were basically still fought at the border of the countries, and still with machines. The production of these machines was costing the government heavily (especially Side A, as they were also funding the Oculi project)
- In the middle of that year Side A had to deploy humans since they were running out of money to produce the tanks and other machines. Many were killed.
- The same thing happened to Side B at the end of the year, and gradually the war started to be fought by more humans than machines. Both Side A and Side B had asked for assistance by other countries at this point, but the most the countries would supply is a few of their men.
- Half a year later: Side B decided to try and scare Side A's people and try to force them to surrender by bombing a public area via airplane. The place was in Side A's capital in a downtown street hosting an outdoor supermarket. Thousands of innocent lives were killed.
- The move just made Side A angrier, and they retaliated by doing something similar. Not as many died, as Side B was expecting it. Still, the gesture was enough to enrage Side B. It became more of a war of blood than of land.
- One year later: The deaths and expenses have made it too difficult to produce the heavy duty machinery, so most of the battles happened between men. There was a lot of trench warfare like in World War One (a reason why the Oculi had to learn about it). The surrounding countries still would not respond to the Sides' pleas.
- Surprise plane bombing happened spontaneously on both Sides on cities. For this reason the majority of the citizens now shelter in bunkers or underground.
- Helix Industries got bombed, destroying most of the workers and many of the Oculi. The surviving Oculi fled. The government ordered the surviving workers of Helix/Ind to capture the Oculi. They also send in some soldiers to do it, but not too many, since little can be spared in the war.
- One year later: We reach the present of this role-play. The war isn't budging--both sides have had equal losses and gains. The humans have made it clear that the Oculi are not welcome.
The rest is for you to discover.
